We cordially invite everyone to experience the enchanting lights and Lanna cultural heritage at the Yi Peng Festival Chiang Mai 2025, held from November 4–6, 2025, marking the beginning of the tourism season and the arrival of the cool breeze.
Organized by the Chiang Mai Municipality in collaboration with public and private sector partners, this year’s Yi Peng celebration is held under the theme:
“The River of Compassion — In Honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, Whose Grace and Devotion Forever Remain in Our Hearts.”
This year, the municipality joins hands with all sectors to pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, in remembrance and gratitude from the Thai people during this meaningful season.
Highlights include:
Over 30 grand Krathong parade floats, each expressing homage to Her Majesty The Queen Mother, alongside a variety of traditional Lanna cultural events:
- Royal Trophy Contest for Grand Krathong Floats
- Traditional “Pa Gate” Archway Decoration Contest
- Northern “Sapaow” Candle Craft Competition
- Ping River Worship Ceremony
-Yi Peng Lantern Competition
-Floating Candle Ceremony along the River
-“Tham Luang” Dharma Recitation Ceremony
- Banana Leaf and Fresh Flower Krathong Contest
- Yi Peng Festival Opening Ceremony
This year, Chiang Mai warmly welcomes visitors from around the world to join in “Yi Peng” and “The Lights of Faith” a heartfelt experience in the magical Lanna atmosphere.
